This section shows the BoSL Centrifuge. The BoSL centrifuge is a low-cost, open-source, freely available 3D-printed centrifuge for DNA and RNA extraction. The device can fit with any commercially available portable screwdriver, the 3D-printed components can extract twelve samples at a time.

Design

Rotor

This 3d printed centrifuge is following the design of fixed-angle rotor (eppendorf F45-12-11). In this 3d printed rotor, tubes are held at a 45 degree angle during the spinning operation and it accommodates 12 samples and can be connected to the electric screwdriver by M12 bolts. The radius of the rotor is 59mm and the speed of the screwdriver is from 0-30000/min, hence the maximum relative centrifugal force (RCF) is 60372.
